On Saturday, October 23, 2010 Kelly O’Brien ’90, Ginger Di Lorenzo ’58, and Diane Highland ’74 hosted the Saint Mary’s Colorado Alumnae Founders’ Day celebration in Colorado Springs. Festivities began with Mass in the Pauline Chapel celebrated by Monsignor Robert E. Jaeger, Vicar General and Vicar for Clergy of the Diocese of Colorado Springs. Msgr. Jaeger gave a beautiful homily and we were pleased to learn his mother is a Saint Mary’s alumna and his father is an ND graduate. Mass was followed by lunch in the Broadmoor Hotel, where our keynote speaker was Kara O’Leary, ’89, Director of Alumnae Relations at SMC. Sheila Boone, Colorado Club President 2008-2010, introduced the new club president, Kelly O’Brien ’90.

On April 10th, the Colorado Club held a “care package party” and luncheon at the home of Phyllis Sullivan Van Hersett, ’62, in Littleton.  Each attendee brought 12 of an item to be packed in bags and sent to our 12 Colorado students currently at Saint Mary’s. We packed lots of fun and tasty items to help the students get through their finals week.  The bags themselves were very cute – reusable bags donated by one of our alums, Katy Massey Lee, class of 2000.

An informal get together is being planned for sometime this summer, in Monument.

August 1 we will have our student “send off party” at the home of Sheila Flynn Boone, in Parker.

***Sad note – Diana Papernak Cuneen, class of 72, and a past Colorado club president, recently died from breast cancer.  Donations in her name can be sent to the Komen Foundation.
